Do I need a permit for the Short Inca Trail?

Yes. Permits are required for the 2-Day Inca Trail and are limited to 500 per day (including guides and porters). We recommend booking at least 3–6 months in advance.

How difficult is this trek?

It is rated moderate. On Day 1 you hike 6–7 hours with some uphill sections. Camping gear and meals are carried by local porters. The tourist will carry a small daypack.

We camp at a private campsite near Machu Picchu, close to the town of Aguas Calientes. You’ll sleep in comfortable tents provided by our team.

What equipment is provided?

We provide tents, mats, dining tents, tables, and kitchen facilities. You may bring your own sleeping bag or rent one from us.

What meals are included?

Day 1 includes lunch and dinner prepared by our chef. Day 2 includes breakfast at camp. Vegetarian/vegan options are available on request.

Something I have to be aware of?

There is nearly no shadow on the 2.5 hour tour through Machu Picchu. We recommend enough to drink, strong sun cream (50+) and a hat which protects your face and neck.

Can I add Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain?

Yes, but spaces are limited. Book early if you’d like to climb either peak after your Machu Picchu tour on Day 2.
