1. How difficult is the tour?

The tour involves light walking on the islands and short hikes (such as to the Amantani temples). Most travelers with basic fitness can complete it. No prior trekking experience is required.

2. Where will I sleep on Amantani?

Accommodation is provided by local host families. Rooms are simple but clean, with basic beds and blankets. Bathrooms are shared, and there is no hot shower, offering an authentic cultural experience.

3. What is the food like?

Meals are prepared by local families using fresh Andean ingredients such as quinoa, potatoes, cheese, vegetables, and lake trout. Vegetarian options are available upon request.

4. Is altitude a problem?

Lake Titicaca is located at 3,812 m (12,507 ft). Most visitors adapt quickly, but we recommend taking it easy on the first day, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding alcohol. If you have health conditions, consult your doctor before traveling. Please also check our altitude guide

5. What should I bring?

We recommend warm clothes (especially for the night), comfortable walking shoes, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), water, and a flashlight. Small gifts for host families such as school supplies are greatly appreciated.

6. What is included in the Virtual Reality experience?

You will enjoy a 360° preview of life on the Uros Islands, Amantani sunset views, and Taquile weaving demonstrations. The VR experience is available either at our office (Cusco/Switzerland) or through a headset-compatible link online.

7. Are the reed boat rides included?

No. Reed boat rides on the Uros Islands are optional and can be paid directly to the islanders (around 10–15 soles).

8. Can children join this tour?

Yes! Children are welcome, though we recommend ages 6 and above due to the boat rides and walking involved. Families often enjoy the cultural immersion.

9. How long are the boat rides?

Puno → Uros: approx. 30 min Uros → Amantani: approx. 3 hrs Amantani → Taquile: approx. 1 hr Taquile → Puno: approx. 3 hrs

10. What languages does the guide speak?

All tours include a professional bilingual guide (Spanish/English). Other languages may be available on request.
