Overview

This tour is ideal for those who really want to be as far away as possible, in the middle of nowhere, with only the surrounding nature. The Huchuy Qosqo promenade allows camping in an area that is rarely seen by tourists. Huchuy Qosqo (small Cusco) is situated above the Urubamba Valley and offers spectacular views of the Vilcanota Mountain Range. This walk is also a great way for you to enjoy a shorter walk that includes Machu Picchu and Inca trails (with stairs that are better than the Inca Trail). You will have one night camping in the desert, and one night in a lodge in the beautiful town of Aguas Calientes.

Itinerary

DAY 1: CUSO - TAUCCA CHINCERO - HUCHUY QOSQO

At 6:30 am, begin your trip in a private vehicle to the community of Taucca – Chinchero. Visit an association of artisans formed by families from the same community. They will demonstrate the wool process of South American camelids (vicuña, alpaca, llama, and guanaco) as spinning, dyeing, and weaving.

After the exhibition, start with the trek uphill following an original Inca trail to Huchuy Qosqo, admire the beautiful views of the Andes Mountains and the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Also, admire the small canyon known as the lion gate formed by huge rocks and finally see the impressive view of the archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo.

After an arduous and pleasant walk, you will spend the night in the heights of the Sacred Valley of the Incas in a local family lodge or in camping tents on the terraces of Huchuy Qosqo (to your liking).
