Overview

The Humantay Lake is formed as a product of the thawing of a great snow-covered mountain that in turn is part of a mountain chain called the Vilcabamba mountain range.

What makes the Humantay lake characteristic is the natural colour that it possesses because not having much marine flora in its waters. Indescribable colour in words, but understandable to the eyes, forming a unique landscape. When travellers seek to capture the ideal moment with their cameras that has so much desire to capture landscapes experiences and moments all this and more make it an ideal place to visit if you travel to Cusco Peru.

However, the geographical environment of this lake is also unique since it serves as the first camp on the Salkantay tour.

We will be waiting at the door of the hotel at 05:00 in the morning to be able to take you on a trip of around 3 hours to the village of Mollepata (2,900 m) where we will have a delicious breakfast and recover energy to go to Soraypampa (3,850 m). From this point, we will start the walk. If you wish, you can rent horses offered by the inhabitants of the area.

During the ascent, we will have the opportunity to observe the diverse flora and fauna that inhabit the area. We can observe some native birds of the area, as well as to get great views of the Andean landscape. Once arrived in the area, we will enjoy our lunch box and replenish our energy. Once we reach our goal, we will be delighted with the spectacular views of the Humantay Lagoon (4,200 m) and its turquoise waters where you can take spectacular pictures. We will thank the Pachamama and the Apus in a small ritual with coca.

After having a relaxe, we will descend to Soraypampa where our transport will be waiting for us to take us to Mollepata. Arriving here, we will take our lunch, to later transport ourselves back to the city of Cusco and leave you at your hotel.
